What a year it's been so far.
I hope that everyone is doing well and staying safe during these ongoing strange times.
As many of you have already experience throughout these last few years, there has been constant reduced capacity, cancellation or postponement of entertainment events as well as the conversion of live in person events to being streamed online. While the online platforms and reduced capacity have given back artist some sort of platform to somewhat showcase their talents, it has been heartbreaking across the industry as those connections with those who matter the most (you) haven't been really solved on a full spectrum. For us personally it has been extremely challenging as the uncertainty of whether or not we will be allowed to move forward with events have cost us financially on so many levels.
We have also had difficultly securing funds due to not being eligible, no matter how many events presented that could really benefit the community as a whole by providing them with additional safe spaces where they can all come together, thus slowing us down drastically as we are a non-profit organization and securing funds is how we are able to really put on a show. Needless to say we are a bit beat up ourselves as we want to be able to help the community of the underrepresented shine, but we are struggling to have our program be recognized as something valuable.
To all of the minority artists/entertainers, please keep heart and positivity as we are working hard on trying to access the necessary help to grow our music communities resources that, simply put, still seem to be hard to come our way for some reason. We are very determined to represent our culture and our music no matter what, even if it means pulling our own little funds when we can afford to.
To everyone as a whole (funders, followers, artist, volunteers, etc.), we appreciate your support and could not have made it this far without you cheering us on, showing up, and believing in the movement of providing opportunities to a large group of individuals that deserve to have more opportunities/professional platforms too!
